The Criminal Investigations Division (CID):
- oversees investigation of all reported crimes in the Sheriff’s Office response area
- works proactive investigations to combat such crimes as:

- narcotics
- sexual assaults
- sexual exploitation of minors
- human trafficking
- domestic assaults
- property crime
- much more
They collaborate with other divisions, such as Patrol and Crime Reduction. This allows for a comprehensive response to proactively combating crime in Cabarrus County.
