Businesses in the community can partner with Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office to share video from their place of business to allow first responders insight into the emergencies they are responding to. The program is called Protected Places.
When there is an emergency at a business that is a part of Protected Places, our real-time information system then looks to the map for available cameras in the area. If cameras are found that information is displayed for real time analysts to be able to relay the information to responders immediately. This provides responders with key information about the incident before their arrival.
Key Facts:
- Businesses control which cameras they share
- No camera footage is stored by Cabarrus County
- Sharing video is a voluntary way to increase security in the community
