Achieving law enforcement accreditation
Published on October 09, 2025
The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office is scheduled for an assessment on November 6, 2025, as part of a program to achieve law enforcement accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards.
Administered by the North Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation (NCLEA) program, the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards, which focus on policy and procedures, administration, support services, instructional techniques, facilities management, safety, records integrity, and a host of other issues that promote the professional delivery of services within the public safety industry.
As part of the assessment, agency employees and community members are invited to submit comments via email or mail, to be received by November 5, 2025. Comments will be reviewed by members of the Assessment Team.
Comments should address the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office’s ability to comply with NCLEA’s standards. A list of the standards is available to the public on the North Carolina Department of Justice website. (https://ncdoj.gov/north-carolina-law-enforcement-accreditation/)
Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may email them to NCaccred@ncdoj.gov with Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office entered in the email subject line or send them to the North Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation (NCLEA), PO Drawer 149, Raleigh, NC 27602.
