As a courtesy to the county residence, Deputies will conduct Residence Checks of your home at your request if, for instance, you are leaving town on vacation for an extended period of time. Citizens can call the sheriff's office at (704) 920-3000 to request this program. When calling please be prepared to give the following information:

Telephone Number
Contact Numbers: (for you and who ever is taking care of your residence while you are gone)
How long will you be away?
Have you stopped your mail and paper?
What type of vehicle(s) do you have in the driveway?

In 1993, the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department purchased a computer system that could be used to contact and relay information to our citizens. This computer was purchased from U.S. Telecom. This system can easily be activated anywhere a telephone is available. An officer can access the system and record a message. One the message is stored in the computer, the officer then designates what group the message needs to be delivered to. The telephone database was setup and groups programmed beforehand. We use this computer system to make notifications to the public for prison escape, chemical hazards, crime watch meetings, vehicle descriptions that have been used in a commission of a crime, contact personnel at our department, and most importantly our "Home Check Program."

Sheriff's Department Home Check Program

The Sheriff's home check system is a program provided by the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department. This program is being provided as a public service to the people of this county, and is totally free to all subscribers. The home check program can call an individual at any time of day, as many times as needed. Our subscribers use this service for welfare checks, medication reminders, wake up calls etc. If the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department is unable to make contact with a key holder (provided by the applicant) we will make all means necessary to make sure of the subscribers well being. The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department has over 110 subscribers on the service at this time, and we are still growing. We do limit our subscribers to county residents only, we service all the cities within Cabarrus County.
