Project HomeSafe is in its second year for the Cabarrus County
Sheriff's Office. This program is designed to help make homes
with firearms safer and prevent needless accidents. So far,
hundreds of free cable locks and firearm safety educational
materials have be provided free to residents throughout Cabarrus
County.
Developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF),
the nationwide program is about teaching Americans to unload
and lock their firearms, and will provide firearm owners with
three million free gunlocks this year. The U.S. Congress via
a Department of Justice grant funds project HomeSafe. The
National Conference of Lieutenant Governors (NCLG) and over
700 communities in 46 states also endorse it.
