The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office Homicide Cold Case Investigations Unit was formed in August 2005. The Cold Case Unit consists of one full-time assigned investigator. Detective B. R. Bonds who had recently retired from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations as an Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge was the first assigned investigator. Detective K. G. Pfister was reassigned as the Cold Case Investigator in July 2006 upon the promotion of Detective Bonds to Detective Lieutenant. All open unsolved homicide cases from the late 1970's were reviewed by Detective Bonds. Our goal is to give the family, friends of the victim and the citizens of Cabarrus County closure.
